In tune

Music, unfiltered raw music; the essence of life itself, as some wise man once put it. Carnatic, bollywood, rock, blues etc. and sometimes even rap can sensitize the nerves and pull them into a deeper state of being. Transcending all cultures, music is something that binds us all; no matter where we are from and what language we speak the same notes and the same octaves exist as a part of our lives.

A significant part of my day and most of my night(yes even when I'm sleeping; i like some panpipe music playing in the background), it has played a major part in my development (if you think I am so retarded now, imagine what I'd be like w/o the music to help me). The thing about music is the play of contrasts, it is a highly abstract and creative process to make music but it is so methodically mellifluous that when I think about it, I am dumbfounded. The highly complex arrangement of notes by Led Zep or the simple beats of a Bhangra dhol, all have a niche of their own, a mood attached with each song, a certain sentiment conceived with each note struck.

I wonder sometimes what makes music what it is to us. Why do humans feel the need to express themselves in melody? What keeps us all in tune...
